LISTEN TO THESE
PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN HARMED:
James Michaels:
I tried
the gas pills and got no improvement in mileage on the first tank. I
have a friend who is a Chemist for a company that does analysis for
the petro-chem industry, so I gave him one of the pills to analyze
in their lab. (He also checked out BioPerformances website, and says
their science is a bunch of hokas pokas.) Here is what he found:
"I can't remember if I told you the gas pill is 99+% naphthalene.
Oddly it almost completely dissolves with a green color so there's a
trace of something else including a very small amount of insoluble
dark solids. These solids should filter out but I would think they
could plug a fuel filter eventually. The green color? I don't know.
Naphthalene is colorless. I meant to give the rest of the pill back
as it's in the truck. I'll remember eventually."
Anonymous Female:
"I have just been
contacted by a friend of mine who is visiting her parents in
Houston. Her dad is really gung ho to get into this BioPerformance
thing. She called me and is trying to get me hyped up. Well, my
hubby and I have lost several thousand dollars over the last 10
years to MLM's, so I have to say that I am skeptical to say the
least, but when I went to the BioPerformance website, my feelings
were more than validated! Lowell Mims has been involved in 2 MLM's
that I have lost money on! Not only did I lose money, but I have
friends and relatives that lost money as well. The
telecommunications company that he cites in is bio is Destiny
telecom, which bilked lots and lots of people out of lots and lots
of money. He got out of that one right before it tanked and claimed
he knew nothing, and the other one was a diet pill similar to
Metabolife that we were also involved in (can't remember the name of
that one)and also lost a couple of thousand bucks on. I would highly
advise staying away from anything this guy is involved in from
personal experience. Yeah, some people make money from this, but
most don't. I wouldn't trust his gas pills to do anymore than his
diet pills and prepaid phone cards did, which is NOTHING!"

"I, for one, fully
agree with your statements about Bioperformance pills in general and
Lowell Mims in particular. The Bioperformance are made up of fuel
system detergents (Our lab has evaluated them). They don't do
anything but clean out the fuel system. During the cleaning process
the system will work better, gradually, but when the system is
clean, there are no further benefits to be had. Lowell Mims is
exactly what you and others have called him; a snake-oil salesman
and a consummate SCAM artist. If you go to his site there is no way
to contact him or his company. He won't take any credit cards or
wire transfers or respond to any inquiries. If we can get the
contact info and addresses and the name and location of the chemical
company that is producing his bogus pills, the FTC would love to
have a conversation with any and all of them.
There are a lot of "Wanna-Be" Power Pill or fuel pill companies
and/or manufacturers out there, around the world. Most of them
cannot back up any of their claims and are selling inferior or badly
formulated products. Some of their liquid products are bad as well.
It is good that you can warn people about the MLM scams out there
and about bad fuel pills in general.
Who am I . . . and how can I make such statements about these
products and sales organizations?
My name is Thaddeus J. (Ted) King. I have been involved in the solid
fuel conditioner / enhancer business since 1973 when the solids
first came out. I have also been involved in several of the MLM
companies that have sprung up over the years since then so I have an
intimate knowledge of MLM sales organizations as well. In 1991 we
began selling the new and revolutionary Power Pill that really
worked in all internal combustion engines/ It was readily accepted
by the public once we proved to them that it would definitely
improve their fuel mileage, reduce harmful emissions, clean out
their fuel systems and increase their power. (There are a lot more
benefits that we won't go into in this message)
In 1992 I left the MLM industry and began selling the pills and
related automotive aftermarket substances full time. I started a
corporation and established a web site and became moderately
successful. The company that manufactured the pills and related
products was located right here in Southern California. They have a
good reputation and produced a great product. In the early 2000's
their operation was sold to a designer oil company from Florida.
That company was only interested in their designer oils and not in
making power pills. Their quality control fell and I began to lose
quite a lot of my customer base. By the way, My company name at that
time was Power-Pill, Inc., a Nevada Corp., and I had distributors
all over the world.
In 1993 I met a Master Chemical Engineer with several degrees from
MIT. He was interested in solid fuel conditioners for a client group
in his own, very large corporation. To make a long story short, He
evaluated the pills I had been selling. He did not make any attempt
to reverse engineer them (no one has ever been able to do that,
anyway), he just came up with brand new formulae that work
incredibly better that the old one. The new pills and related
products have been perfected and we have had them on the market for
more than a year. We have been retailing them through the internet
and selling them to the wholesale client base around the world. I
have changed the legal structure and the name of the company to
Super Power Pill, Int'l, LLC. Our greatly accepted website is XXX if
you'd like to check it out. Read through the site. It has a great
deal of information, including a history of the power pill. The
manufacturer of these incredible new pills is ConSeal International,
Inc., a very large and extremely well known manufacturer of nearly
every chemical substance and pharmaceutical product you use every
day.
Oh, yes, You will notice that there is no reference to retail sales
on the site. I am so busy with my Commercial clients that I have
contracted with a company called Fuel Freedom International in
Altamonte Springs, Florida to handle all the retail sales and they
have set up a new Network Marketing company to sell these pills as
well. They are a reputable firm who I have known of and dealt with
for several years. They will do well with this product.
You see, there are some honest people out here who have the customer
and the environment in mind when they produce a new product."
Tyler Scott:
I have tried these
pills and not only has my gas mileage gotten worse but the company
is skating around the issue of both a refund and future billing for
more product that I do NOT want. Below is a copy of the email that I
sent:
-------------------------------------
My name is Scott *** ID# ****. Please cancel any future autoships
immediately as well as the autoship that I have yet to receive but
that I was charged for on 1/19/06 and refund that payment to my
credit card on file. I also need to find out about your return
policy on un-opened bottles of this product.
I have kept very accurate details on my mpg for some time now. The
last 3 averages BEFORE using BP were 15.1 , 14.9 and 15.2
respectively. Since using your product my mpg have actually gone
DOWN to 14.1 and 13.9 under the EXACT SAME driving conditions. I am
willing to keep the one open bottle that I have been using and will
continue till the 4 tank recommendation you have posted but at this
point and with the results I have seen after 2 tanks I definitely do
not want to pay for more product nor keep what I have not opened.
I am a very reasonable person but this has been an outrage thus far.
I live roughly 90 miles from Dallas and yet the order fulfillments
have taken weeks (like I posted above I still have not received my
second shipment and no longer want to, so please refund the 63.82 to
the CC on file). Also again please provide return and refund
information for the 3 bottles of pills and 1 bottle of powder yet
un-opened otherwise I will be forced to post my actual results to
several of my own websites, watch-dog & scam buster sites as well as
the BBB to name a few.
--------------------------------------
No response to the first email, the second email I sent prompted a
response:
----------------------------------
To insure it is the correct person making the request, you cannot
send an email to cancel anything with BioPerformance, Inc., you must
notify the company in writing.
Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you.
BioPerformance, Inc., 1300 W. Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 100, Irving,
TX 75038.
--------------------------------------
I also sent an email directly to Lowell (Pres. and minister)with no
reply at this point.
Beware, this is a scam!
Raxip:
MLMs have
notoriously been founded on the principles of the Ponzi (one of, if
not the first scheme to date) or Pyramid schemes; meaning, the
system relies upon bringing new people in so that the funds can be
redistributed upwards. Infact, every
Pyramid scheme that doesn't sell a product will fail when their
members cease bringing in new people into the network. The very
principle of selling memberips (aka redistribution of money) is
illegal in the U.S. unless a product is sold. Ever received a letter
saying that if you send $1 to some anonymous person, your name will
enter a list and eventually, you'll start receiving more than you
put into it? That's a perfect example of redistribution of finances.
Why is this relevant? The only way a MLM can sustain itself is by
achieving reoccuring revenue; aka product(s). BioPerformance
achieves that by requiring people to a) be on autoship (monthly
monetary deduction of $59 + tax if you're in Texas) and b) the more
obvious one, selling the product.
So, you understand that. Now how does this apply to any MLM with a
product? It means that to be legitmate in the U.S., you need to sell
a product that works exactly as prescribed. Unfortunately, no one
can actually say it works exactly as prescribed because the only
people who know what's in it won't release any factual data (EPA and
BioPerformance).
Testimonials only mean something if it's coming from a reputable
source. And what better way to get a reputable source? From a friend
of family member obviously!
See where is this going? That's the typical network marketing scheme
in a nutshell. If the product works as prescribed (and works beyond
someone's rudimentary testimonial), then I congratulate the company
for coming up with a break-through technology that even the
multi-billion dollar gas/oil companies couldn't/wouldn't do.
From my brief fuel research thus far (have been learning more about
chemistry than I wanted to), it
looks like BioPerformance is nothing more than some variant
of naphthalene, an aromatic hydrocarbon (it certainly smells like
it.. aka mothballs). Unfortunately, the company insists that the
product isn't dangerous (note: hazerdous) and is not forced by OSHA
regulations to release an MSDS (which they recently took off of
their website). If it is indeed naphthalene, the product is quite
harmful.
For detailed information about the adverse
health affects
of
naphthalene,
take a look at a VERY reputable peer reviewed information repository
called
Wikipedia.
As a side note, I had a closed bottle of BioPerformance (pill form)
sitting next to a couple of apples on my counter at home. After 2-3
days (through the weekend) of them being near each other, the apples
tasted just like the pills smelled. What a waste of apples
